Dear Colleagues,
The first preparatory meeting for ConsAsia meeting was held in Seoul, Korea on Oct 21, 2016. The volunteers from 9 countries, such as, Australia, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Korea, Singapore, New Zealand, and Taiwan participated in the preparatory meeting and agreed on the following items: the ConsAsia meeting will be held in autumn biennially; the first ConsAsia meeting will be held in Seoul on November 8-10, 2019; Asian-Oceanian Federation of Conservative Dentistry (AOFCD) needs to be founded; member countries should support the hosting country with speakers, presenters, and participants; the scope of the meeting needs to be included in the Constitution of AOFCD; the main theme of the first meeting will be suggested by the organizing committee of the hosting country and will be discussed. The volunteer participants who attended at the preparatory meeting agreed to organize a society for the Asian and Oceanian countries to collaborate in the field of Conservative Dentistry. It was called ConsAsia, like ConsEuro.
The academic societies in the field of Conservative Dentistry in the Asian and Oceanian countries would form a network for international academic collaboration in research and publication as well as mutual cooperation in education, research, and clinical practice for improvement of oral health in Asia and Oceania. With the help of European Federation of Conservative Dentistry (EFCD), we revised the draft of the constitution and by-laws. We set up local organizing committee, and decided the venue for the first ConsAsia meeting. We determined the main theme of the first meeting, figured out 9 world-widely well-known Keynote speakers, constructed the scientific programs, and are doing our best to recruit possible participants. We hope to invite the participants who agree with us on the objectives of a ‘ConsAsia’ and ‘AOFCD’.
The ConsAsia meeting 2019, in Seoul, Korea will provide a platform for a network for international academic collaboration. It would be great experience to have social activities in fantastic autumn colors around Seoul, traditional cultural tour, and dynamic ‘Korean wave’ like K-pop and Korean drama.
Thank you for your interest in ConsAsia and AOFCD. It would be great honor to see you at the ConsAsia meeting.
